Heat-treatment eliminates various quarantine hazards found on goods imported into New Zealand. It is an alternative to fumigation (methyl bromide) and does not involve the use of chemicals. As such, heat-treated products are safe for use immediately following treatment.
Heat-treatment is not recommended for timber products containing glue or plastics due to the risk of disintegration.
The kilns used in this process have the latest technology, coupled with the most up-to-date software.
